Editorial Team: A Journal Made by Graduate Students
In Progress thrives on the submissions we receive from graduate students. But it is also a journal that is made by graduate students. The advanced seminar “Editing a Scholarly Journal” is integral to the production of the journal. In this course, graduate students form an editorial team as they first learn the basics about academic publishing, including the format of the academic journal, the peer-review process, formatting, editing, and proofreading, and then put theory into practice when they work on the next issue of In Progress. Under the guidance of the editorial board, the students conduct a blind peer-review process to evaluate submissions for publication in the Academic Section, write original texts for the Independent Studies and Open Sections, and are involved in editing and formatting all contributions according to the In Progress template and style guidelines. This hands-on experience enables them to learn about the intricacies of the publication process, including the editing and production of a journal, and to acquire valuable skills for future careers inside or outside of academia. And the result is a new issue of In Progress at the end of the semester.
Editorial Team 2023/2024
In the winter term 2023/2024 a small but dedicated group of students prepared the third issue of In Progress (vol. 2, no. 1). The publication of this newest issue would not have been possible without their rigorous peer review, thorough editing, and creative input. We are grateful for the time and energy everyone poured into this project!
The members of the editorial team include: Simge Irnak Çinar, Holly Fischer, Adebola Ojo, Ioana-Marina Pantelici and Mandana Vahebi.
Thank you!
